At a face to face meeting in August 2024, at the 60L Building in Carlton, CWA members gathered from across southern Victoria to set the group's priorities for the next 12 months.
The group resolved to focus on, and provide input and oversight to, 6 key state and federal policy areas which are currently being reviewed:
- Victorian Waterway Management Strategy,
- The 5th Tranche of the Victorian Environmental Contribution Levy,
- National Water Agreement
- GM2030
- Development of PFAS standards both State and Federal
- River Action Plans including that of the Yarra, Rivers of the West and Rivers of the Barwon.
Each of these have the potential to markedly impact the overall health of our southern waterways.
The CWA will be reaching out to government and agency decision makers to secure the best possible future for our waterways.
